AltFinish — Privacy Policy

AltFinish is a Shopify app that scans a merchant's product catalogue for images with missing or weak alternative (alt) text and writes accessible alt text back to the store. It is operated by Eli Stowe (Newcastle, NSW, Australia). This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.

What we access

• Product and image data — product titles, image URLs and existing alt text, read from your store through the Shopify Admin API to audit and update images.
• Store and authentication data — your store domain and the access token Shopify issues when you install the app, used only to authenticate API requests on your behalf.
• Billing records — the amount and status of charges you approve, handled through Shopify's Billing API.

What we do not collect

AltFinish does not access, store or process your customers' personal information, order data, or any storefront-visitor data. The app requests only the read_products and write_products permissions.

Third-party processing

• Google (Gemini API) — to generate alt text, a product image and its title are sent to Google's Gemini API and the generated description is returned. This processing is subject to Google's API terms.
• Shopify — all charges are processed by Shopify through its Billing API. AltFinish never sees or handles your payment details.

Storage and retention

The data above is stored only for as long as needed to operate the app. When you uninstall AltFinish, Shopify sends a redaction request and all data we hold for your store is deleted within 48 hours. You may also request deletion at any time using the contact below.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data or share it with anyone except the processors named above, and only to provide the app's functionality.

Security

Access tokens and store data are stored securely and transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

Your rights

Depending on where you operate, you may have rights to access, correct or delete the data we hold. We honour Shopify's mandatory privacy requests (customers/data_request, customers/redact and shop/redact) and respond to direct requests sent to the address below.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
